If we had but one piece of advice for businesses that want to show up prominently in the major search engines, it would be to first create great web sites. By ‘great’ we mean quality content, on-theme, well-written, and a sufficient quantity of it. Then keeping the content coming, improving, augmenting over time.

Blogs are a great way to add content to your site on a regular basis. How about a blog a day? Too much? Well then a blog a week might be part of your organization’s internet marketing plan.

To do this intelligently and strategically, you’ll benefit from some keyword research. Use keyword research to guide the selection of topics to write about. If you’re a dentist and the phrase ‘cosmetic dentistry’ ranks high among keyword searches … write something about cosmetic dentistry.

This is a step you can undertake today … getting a blog setup that is. Do the keyword research (or hire someone to do it), then write (and write, and write, and write some more). Call us if you need help.

If your company doesn’t have a plan (and a practice) of promoting its online presence, chances are you’re competitively falling behind. For so many companies and organizations, if you’re not seen on the first page(s) of Google, Yahoo, and the other search engines, in connection with strategically important keyword searches, then you don’t exist. Period.

It doesn’t need to be that way. Having a website is only half the battle (actually, maybe only a tenth of the battle). We think a 10:1 ratio makes sense in terms of investment in the website itself relative to investing in promoting it over time. That is, for every dollar spent in developing the site, figure on spending ten to promote it and bring meaningful traffic to your site.

OK, whether 10:1 or 2:1 or some other ratio, the point is it’s essential to invest in promoting your site. If you don’t, you’re not taking advantage of one of the (potentially) most powerful ways of promoting and bringing new customers to your business.

Well maybe there’s no real connection between jazz and SEO … but man there should be. See/hear the video below as Trane’s notes fly onto the page and out of his tenor. A masterpiece indeed!

Or is it, our blog is our web site? I don’t know. In any case, we’ve bypassed the more conventional static web site approach entirely to take advantage of the power and flexibility of blogs. It may make for a lot of reading. But we’ll try to make it of substance. And if not of substance, or informative, maybe ‘entertaining’? Why not? You have to have fun with your work to stay sane.

We’ll be adding content to this site/blog almost daily. It’s fast and easy to do with a blog structure. And search engines ‘love’ blogs. In our experience it’s not unusual for a blog posting to be indexed by Google within minutes of its posting. So we practice what we preach to our clients. One of the things we ‘preach’ is to take a good look at blogging as a way to improve your company’s search engine presence.

If a blog sounds like it might be an interesting option for your organization … well, let’s chat!
